Start off in Downward Facing Dog with your hands right next to a wall right in front of you. Meddy recommends that you practice against a wall for the first couple months while learning this pose. The biggest fear yogis have in this pose is the fear of falling over, this is why it is good to practice against the wall. Headstand is an Inversion Pose that challenges your entire body and strengthens your wrist and hand muscles.

Practice lifting off from Downdog with your feet hitting the wall. Have a firm grip with your hands. As both legs come off the ground, engage your core abdominal muscles to help lift your hips over your shoulders. Hop up and down like this several times, each time pushing off the floor a little higher. Take a inhale from Downdog and exhale each time you jump up to the wall. This pose takes dedication and practice. With regular practice, you can move onto many fun variations of Headstand Pose.
