Chest Opening Yoga Poses
In this series of yoga postures, we will learn some of Meddy's favorite Chest Opening Yoga Poses. These poses are wonderful for core strength and stability. Let's keep our heart shining forward and strong with these mindful yoga postures..
Camel Pose is a great backbend that opens the whole chest up. The Sanskrit name for Camel Pose is Ustrasana (ooh-STRAHS-uh-nuh) - This pose is part of many Power Yoga flows and is part of the Bikram sequence as well. There are multiple layers to this posture. In it's full variation, Camel Pose is a deep quad and knee stretch. This pose is really perfect for spinal and abdominal flexibility.
Cobra Pose is a backbend and a chest opener that improves the flexibility of your spine. As you learn Chaturanga and Upward Facing Dog, you will in a way be practicing Cobra Pose as you flow through the postures.
Upward Facing Dog
Upward Facing Dog is a great chest opener and back stretch. A lot of times it is just called "up dog" for short. This posture is important because it connects to Downward Facing Dog and many other flows or Vinyasa.
